History of the Club

The club was formed in 1953 by many local men who worked in the mining industry and this association can be seen on the club badge which has a picture of the Davy Safety Lamp used widely in all pits and mines for the detection of Gas. The first jack was delivered by Mr W. Ford J.P.,  B.E.M. on 25th April 1953. The Clubs greatest achievement to date was the winning of the Scottish Senior Fours in 1980.
